Tips/Motivation/Messages for First-Gen Students
Bell Hooks said, "Whether we learn how to love ourselves and others will depend on the presence of a loving environment. Self-love cannot flourish in isolation". With that, I say, do not be so afraid of (insert anything), that you don't ask for what you need. You are deserving of the support.
Anecdote
Being first can be difficult- there is no doubt to that AND at the same time, can be so rewarding, granting so many moments of pride. Being first doesn't stop once you graduate, it is a continuous journey of learning new ways to make life work for you. Don't forget your power.
